La prima parte č intitolata Legal and expert issues, gli autori si soffermano sulla condizione dello psicologo nei procedimenti criminali e penali in Polonia.
La seconda parte, intitolata Delinquency – Assessment, Treatment and Prevention, analizza gli aspetti psicologici e comportamentali degli autori di reato, siano essi giovanissimi, giovani adulti o adulti.
La terza parte, The family in Court, si riferisce al principio del “the best interests of the child”, alle “broken families”, e ai diritti del bambino.
La quarta parte, Witness testimonies and suspect statements, sviluppa argomenti attinenti la psicologia della menzogna e della testimonianza, in particolare: come si scoprono le menzogne e gli inganni, i meccanismi di distorsione nelle dichiarazioni dei testimoni, l’influenza della suggestione e dell’auto-suggestione sulla testimonianza, i tipi di errori che sorgono durante l’evocazione dei ricordi.
L’ultima parte, Investigations and trials, č dedicata al problema di delineare il profilo psicologico del reo e della vittima.
Il volume č molto utile sia per gli studiosi sia per i professionisti, di interessante consultazione per psicologi giuridici, giudici, avvocati e operatori di polizia.

This
publication contains materials selected from amongst works presented at the
Eighth European Conference on Psychology and Law, which was held in Krakňw on
2-5 September 1998. The volume consists of five parts (45 papers).
The
first is titled Legal and expert issues, it contains papers on the status
of the psychologist in Polish criminal proceedings.
The
second part, titled Delinquency – Assessment, Treatment and Prevention,
is focused on various aspects of psychological predisposition and analysis of
mechanisms of behaviour – in juvenile, young adults and adult perpetrators.
The
next part, titled The family in Court, emphasizes: “the best interests
of the child”, broken families and children’s rights.
Witness
testimonies and suspect statements underlines
lying and detecting deceit, the psychology of lying, the mechanisms of arising
of distortions in statements/testimonies, the influence of suggestion and
auto-suggestion, the types of errors which arise in the course of remembering.
The
last part, Investigations and trials, is devoted to the problem of
creating a psychological profile of perpetrators and victims.
